STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM PIE SKATES INTO FIRST PLACE IN THE SMUCKER'S® STARS ON ICE® FAVORITE FLAVOR DESSERT RECIPE CONTEST

ORRVILLE, OH (April 2005) – A cool combination of strawberries and whipping cream in graham cracker crust took home the gold today in the Smucker's® Stars On Ice® Favorite Flavor Dessert Recipe Contest. Olympic figure skaters, including gold medallists Alexi Yagudin, Jamie Sale and David Pelletir and World Champions Kurt Browning and Todd Eldredge and British Champion Steven Cousins, judged three delicious desserts that were selected as finalists after a preliminary round of judging. Leah Brislin from Huntsville, AL scored high marks in every category with her Strawberries and Cream Pie.

"All the dessert recipes entered in the contest were unique and delicious, and we were thrilled to have the skaters take a break from the Stars on Ice tour and lend us their discriminating palates," said Maribeth Badertscher, communications manager, The J.M. Smucker Company. "The three desserts the skaters tasted today stood out above the rest, and it must have been difficult to choose just one winner."

Brislin won a trip for four people to the Smucker's Stars on Ice 2005 Lake Placid show. During the show Leah and her guests will enjoy premium center ice level tickets and receive four Stars on Ice posters signed by the cast, one mounted ice skate autographed by a Stars on Ice performer, two special guest programs signed by the cast, two Stars on Ice turtlenecks, two Roots baseball caps featuring the Stars on Ice® logo, and one Create Your Own Gift Basket of Smucker's jams, jellies, preserves or fruit spread products.

Taking home the silver and bronze medals were Anita Hunter from Stilwell, KS for her Peachy Cream and Peanut Butter Pie and Virginia Patry from Colwich, KS for her Apricot Almond Tarts. Both will receive assorted Stars On Ice memorabilia.

The Smucker's® Stars on Ice® Favorite Flavor Dessert Recipe Contest was conducted online at www.smuckers.com from February 14-March 14, 2005. Consumers were invited to send in their favorite dessert recipe using at least two tablespoons of Smucker's jams, jellies, preserves or fruit spreads products in the following flavors: Strawberry, Grape, Red Raspberry, Orange Marmalade, Apricot, Seedless Blackberry, Peach, Black Raspberry, Cherry, Apple, Plum and Blueberry. An independent panel of judges selected three finalists for the official judging by the Stars on Ice skaters. The recipes were judged on taste, creativity and appropriate use of a Smucker's jam, jelly or preserve.
